![]() TBH, this game's shop has always been a piece of work. In League of Legends the 2009 promo skins range from horrible to unremarkable design-wise, whereas in QC the equivalent consists of the best-looking skins in the game, so QC is just not a good game for new collectors. ![]() The only way would be to buy an account, but then again, you wouldn't get the satisfaction of unlocking stuff.Īnd I know this happens in every game, but QC's problem is that the best items happen to be the ones that are not unlockable anymore. Not being able to unlock the best must be frustrating to newer players interested in collecting stuff in QC. = only obtainable with codes that don't work anymore, or that were a part of timed events. Nyx's AMD/ATI skin, Nvidia's Railgun, Quakecon items, etc. We will all lose them soon-ish.Īnd well, I didn't even mention the fact that all of the best items in the game can't be obtained by new players. In the end, QC is just not the game to play for the thrill of unlocking e-goodies. Therefore, new Quake game = QC won't have servers paid by Bethesda anymore = QC becomes unplayable, as players can't upload their own servers in this particular game. Now, notice that Microsoft has owned ZeniMax since last year, which in turn owns Bethesda. ![]() Microsoft has always simply shut down the Microsoft-paid servers of older Halo games whenever newer Halo games are made. But I can still use the LoL skins I bought 12 years ago, right.Īnd in addition to QC's poor financial results, there's another reason why QC's servers might be terminated relatively soon, and that is the advent of the extremely rumored Quake 1 reboot resulting in shutting down the servers of its internal competition, in this case QC. But, what was the point if the game is going to be shut down in late 2024? None at all. Say, you unlock every single not-limited thing there is to be unlocked by early 2024. The plug is just bound to be plugged one day here, and due to the way QC's servers work then the game won't be playable anymore (players can't upload servers like in QL), and therefore you will lose your cosmetics. QC is a F2P game with an extremely low playerbase (around 450 CCU a month is no-thing), that also lacks whales to fund the project (QC's store offers no ways to spend tens of thousands in the game), and is even made by corporations that have shut down many games before (Bethesda and Microsoft). That means the entire game would have to be rewritten for players to upload their own servers once the project is dropped, therefore players will never be able to upload QC servers, and QC will only have servers as long as Bethesda decides to pay for them.Īnd then, consider that QC has its days numbered. It was made from scratch to use AWS servers that are uploaded and shutdown on demand/per map, all paid by Bethesda. Unlike QL and all of the older Quake games, QC won't be playable forever, due to the way its servers work. Resources and LinksĪn aspect not touched by other users here is that if you really care about cosmetics then you shouldn't play this, for the simple reason that you are bound to lose them relatively soon when the game servers are shut down.
